Achievements

Equipment Status

We have ordered all the Sun servers that we will be deploying for the full service.  The Secure racks specification is nearing completion and should go out in early April. The UPSs have arrived and will be installed with the racks.  Facility planning will be contacted to schedule the installation when component arrival is closer. We are looking at Summer time for the build out of the secure enclosures.  We are still doing product review for the hardware key manager. Product review should be done in April then a procurement  decision can be made.  Complete build out should happen this summer.

Set up of Remote Registration Manager

Two of the new servers have been built out for the development environment.  They are being used to focus on the issues for managing a remote Registration manager. NERSC is the first customer for this service and they have been working with the ESnet team to determine the configuration and deployment issues. The goal is to produce a shrink wrap solution for RMs.  This will facilitate additional deployments of this service.

Update CP/CPS

Version 2.0 of the CP/CPS has been undergoing extensive revision and review.  The document went out for final review at the end of the month.  A number of issues were turned up and have been discussed on the PMA list.  No show stoppers have been discovered, but a number of details have to be resolved.  The CP is becoming more mature and the issues that are now being address are focusing on operational dependences of Globus and other middle ware software.  Version 2.0 should be released in April

European Data Grid status

EDG has accepted our CA as a peer. They are in the process of adding the needed files to their services.  Demonstrations of this functionality continue.  We have one open issue with CRLs.  There is a disagreement on the meaning of the next update date in the CRLs.  GSI will not accept a CRLs whose next update field in not in the future. This is considered a bug and we have opened a bug report with Globus.  No progress has been made on reviewing EDG participants CPs by our PMA.  This will take time. The major milestone for this is July, when EDG's test bed 2 starts.
