February 2002 Status report

Goals this month

Achievements

Equipment order

We have specified Sun systems for the PKI server farm.  The ESnet's technical services group (NTSG) worked out the specification for our servers.  We placed the order for 8 Sun Solaris servers, that procurement promised could  be delivered by the first week of March.  After the arrival of the servers the NTSG group will review their schedule to see when the servers can be configured and racked.  After they have been racked they will be turned over to the PKI team to set up our PKI services.   We were not able to get a specification and order for the Vault racks that have been specified in our CP.  This task will be moved to March.

PNNL RA

This task got delayed trying to resolve a new architecture for what PNNL was asking for.  On further analysis it turned out that the current model for the DOESG low volume certificate issuing Registration manager could meet PNNL requirements.  They will be moved to the community Registration Manager next month.  At that time Scott Studham will be added as the PNNL RA. 

Certificates issued to PPDG, FNC and PNNL users

Doug Olsen was our earliest RA and has successfully issued Certificates to PPDG users.  Mary Thompson was set up as an RA for FNC and has been issuing certificates to users.  Since Scott Studham was not set up yet for PNNL, Mary has issued a few certificates for that community.  PNNL will come on line next month.

Update CP

Finished an initial draft for version 2.0 of our CP.  It was a major rewrite of the document.  It went out for community review and has received some major input.  The document should be done by the middle of the next month.  It will then go to the DOE SG PMA for final review/Approval.

GGF 4 participation

The CP working group reviewed the GGF CP and aggreed to one more round of edits.  The document is scheduled for completion at the GGF meeting in Edinburgh.  The Document has also made a major change in scope.  Originally we were talking about it being the official CP for all Grids. We have down graded the document to be a reference CP for Grids to use.  This fits in well with the direction we have been going with our CP.

Project Developer

We  did an exhausting cycle of interviews and were luck to find a very talented developer to work on our project. Dhivakaran Muruganantham (Dhiva) joined our team February 25.  Dhiva will be working over the next few weeks to get acquainted with our project and deliverables.  He will be focusing on UI issues at first and then will look into other support and glue development the project  will need.
